He played safety till last year where he played OLb.
Coaches really do their players a disservice with a move like that knowing good and well the list of schools where he could play a LB/S hybrid is far longer than the list of schools where he could play a OLB/DE hybrid.
I definitely would be more comfortable with him playing off-ball here rather than on-ball, but then again it doesn't look like his coach had him playing off-ball as a JR.
Will definitely be interesting to watch what he does his SR year.

Westmoreland is he'll play more like Darian Stewart Devonte Holloman
I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if we told him he could play on the line here and that's why he flipped to us from UGA.

No lack of adversity for Beamer.
Was pretty excited about his commitment at the time, but this will probably be a recurring theme throughout this cycle for our top targets.

Picked up 3* Safety.
Had to fight off power houses Akron, Campbell and Buffalo to get this kid.

Banks does run track ran 100m in 11 seconds and had some decent numbers so there is the positives. Beating lower tier schools for recruits is not a positive note.

Added JyVonte McClendon, Safety.
Actually beat out some decent schools for this kid but I doubt he was super high on their boards.
Penn State, Florida, Auburn, Oklahoma and others
But hey winning teams are full of kids passed on with a chip on their shoulder.

Recently picked up 2 more commits, one most recently today.
Peyton Williams - S - 6'1" / 180
I don't know why but I have a good feeling that this kid is a gamer. Edit: watched film. good nose for the ball and a hard hitter.
And Jamaal Whyce - DL - 6'4" / 255
Committed yesterday. Thing I like here is size. He's already big at 255 (247 listed), but Gamecock Central put him at 270 in February, so my guess is he projects as an interior guy.

Another thought occurred to me just now. I am really liking the emphasis on defense. We do have weapons in the offense but the defense is really thin, particularly the secondary, so I'm glad we're addressing those needs.

We are racking up those 3* players. I do find it humourous that mcchump couldn't find a safety to save his life and Beamer has them falling all over him.

Cason Henry from Walton High School committed to you guys. Cason Henry

And another 3*. We are going to find out if our staff can coach.

Karon Prunty, Jordan Burch, Luke Doty, Tonka Hemingway, MarShawn Lloyd, Alex Huntley, etc. all have their full eligibility, because of the 2020/Covid rule from the NCAA.

So with the free year how does that effect the signing class size and is 85 still the scholarship number?

Kylic Horton committed. WR from the low country 6'3" and ran a 4.4 at our camp. This kid was way under the radar but is very talented.
