Upcoming commits expected in next month or two:

OL Jozie Milton
TE Connor Redmond
WR Jalen Christian
DE Arden Key

OL Zack Bailey has been spending a great deal of time on campus lately, too.

Yep, the home page of 24/7 where they have their Crystal Ball Tracker, the tracker is all USC lately with CB projections blowing up for Milton and others. Sounds like the recruiting season is about to heat up for the Gamecocks....

Seems like we're reaching outside our footprint more this cycle too.

Already have commits from Missouri and Pennsylvanian with the potential to add kids from, Maryland, Louisiana, Virginia and went after that oline prospect from Washington (state)

Fine by me. The in-state talent has been down lately and the ones that are good can't seem to make it into school.

Can someone give me some background on Albert Huggins? He's never had any interest in us? Is Orangeburg not a place we recruit well? That would seem to be counter-intuitive.

I agree and it's good to see us have some success, but I think the in state talent this year is way better than it has been the past few years. Blackshear, Huggins, Williams, Barnett and Bailey are a really strong top 5. I'd like to get at least three of them

I think he's had some interest in us but not a lot. Not sure why either. I'd figure him and Barnett would be lining up to get in here but neither seem to want to come here

Not surprising, there were a ton of crystal ball predictions rolling in today for us.

Great pickup. Assuming he'll at least start at WR with all the DBs we've brought in last year and are working on bringing in this year?

Yep, primarily a WR in the slot to replace Ellington, I guess....or at least used like Ellington and Sanders were used. Possibly help in doing kick returns too....

Christian said the Gamecocks have a solid game plan for him once he gets to school.

"I'd be like a Bruce Ellington, a Damiere Byrd type of guy," he said, "positions where I can get the ball. And they plan to use me as a punt returner."

Bruce played Z primarily but switched to X some late in 2012 iirc. I thought Byrd has always played B but maybe hes been playing X and thats where Christian thinks he'll play

Another USC Commitment!

Lineman prospect Jozie Milton commits to Gamecocks LINK #gg

Milton (6-3, 290) of Clinton, LA (Silliman Institute) is rated as a DT by most services but was recruited as an interior OL by USC. Milton had over 20 offers, among them from Arkansas, UGA, MSU, GT, Oklahoma St., Wake Forest, WVU, Arizona St., Illinois, USF, Texas Tech, and TCU.

This guy looks like another bad-arse in the line of Cody Waldrop...a OL that also has played DT will be someone with athleticism and aggressiveness, as well as that meanness we all like to see in our OL...

Word. Lots of crystal ball predictions were coming in for us this past week too.

Didn't realize he played DT too.

Anyone got the latest on Arden Key? I feel confident he comes to Carolina, but he's out there playing head games with everyone.

Key is supposed to announce in June. I'd put money on us.

OT Austin Clark is announcing soon, too. CB says Vols but he may not be a take for them at the moment. The thinking is that we get him if that's the case. Clark, Bailey, Hatton, McGirt would make for a helluva haul at OL to go along w/ Palmer and Milton.

OL, RB, and DB are going to rule the rest of the cycle for us. I wouldn't be surprised to see another WR jump on board. DL looks to be taken care of w/ Lewis, Sawyer, Jones and Key all heavily favoring us.

Key is reportedly announcing June 10th. We may be getting some good news from both of them soon....

So this year we get to sign, and enroll, a full class of 25 correct? We'll graduate what, 17-18 scholarship seniors, lose a couple more who will undoubtedly elect to enter the draft early, and then we'll lose a couple two or three more to attrition.

So we'll probably sign 23 or so, plus bring a couple in that we'll place in Prep School.

This next class is shaping-up to perhaps be one of our best of all time. We'll probably start getting pretty selective with the remaining scholarships to give, will we not?

If we get Key, then who else is on the board that we really want, the "must haves?"

The only "must have", IMO, is RB Ty'Son Williams or SDE Marquavious Lewis. We didn't bring a RB in last cycle and getting one this time around is a big priority. We have WDE covered even without Key (assuming Sawyer gets his grades in line and we keep Blackshear on the line) but a good SDE could be a need by then (though I think both of those could actually grow into that position as well). I would also like to see us bring in a big WR (6'3"+) to go along with the ones we have. Auden Tate would be great, but appears to be leaning Michigan of late. With Bowman, Neal and possibly Christian in hand another WR is a luxury more than a need, though.

Thanks Loather.

What about DT Trenton Thompson, DE CeCe Jefferson, and who is the RB along the coast we are after, down around Hilton Head somewhere? Are will still after Albert Huggins? We still looking good with LB RoQuan Smith? I thought Ty'Son Williams was a done deal for Notre Dame?

Very long shot, if any. Looks like a UGA lock as it stands now. We will probably land JUCO DT DJ Jones to plug the middle of our line.

DE CeCe Jefferson

Another one with little to no shot. Heavy UF lean with FSU pushing.

quote:

Not sure. The only other RB offer that we seem to have a shot at, right now, is AJ Turner out of VA or Bryce Love out of NC. There are probably more that the coaches are keeping an eye on that nobody knows about yet as well.

quote:

We're still after him (and in the race at least), but it looks like a predominately UGA or Clemson battle.

quote:

Another UGA lean with Auburn and Florida fighting for his services. No ones out of it until they sign, but it doesn't look great here.

quote:

Not from what I've seen. We seem to be trending on 247 and lead UGA by a bit and ND by a bunch. Though the ND offer is he most recent, so that could change with time.

A lot of this can change as teams fill up, kids show out during the football season and time passes. Still a long way to go til NSD.
