Sounds like more excuses I watched every snap. He couldn’t get it done with more weapons around him as a 4th year player and a true freshman came in and had better control of the offense and more poise.

Sounds like you don't believe players get better with experience

Johnson was playing with a team that'd already played 8 SEC games.

But with true Freshman at WR,TE and starting RB out.

Honestly, I'd go with johnson while recognizing Brennan may be a slightly better option next season (Perhaps)

I think Johnson sort of has the IT factor and a much better pocket presence which i think is more instinctual than anything else. Although statistically I think Brennan may put up more pass yards and completions, I think that Johnson makes the offense less predictable and perhaps a bit more efficient. Johnson's play just translates to the modern college game better and certainly can cover for some deficiencies better

So the more snaps I can get Johnson as the starter the better. I think his ceiling is substantially higher than brennan's in the college game but the only way to get to that ceiling is to let him play

He’s going into his 5th year and a guy that will be going into his 2nd year was better as a True Freshman and beat 2 teams who are than the 3 win Mississippi State team at home that Brennan lost to and couldn’t keep a drive alive, convert a 3rd down, or make the plays necessary when the game was their to be had. He then literally didn’t convert a single 3rd down play against Mizzou.

Well I think right now Brennan is still a little better. But, I think Johnson has a higher ceiling. But he was so young last year, and with more reps in the spring he may very well take Brennan's job. But I don't think he is there yet.

Age is no substitute for experience.

Brennan posted better numbers so how exactly was Johnson better?

Mississippi State has a better pass defense than either Ole Miss or Florida.

I agree max has much better feel for space. And just like burrow, has a dad that has seen every defensive look out there

statistics can certainly be misleading when it comes to offensive production. I’m not saying max was better than Brennan but there are other factors to consider

For instance, if we throw out crap Vandy that everyone molested the rush yards for lsu tell a story
Rush yards vs MSU and MIZZOU were not good. LSU had 80 yards rushing vs MSU at 2.1 per carry and vs MIZZOU LSU had 49 yards for 2.5 yards per carry

Vs Florida, LSU at 179 yards at 3.6 yards per carry and vs Ole Miss LSU had 158 yards at 3.7 yards per carry.

Also LSU was sacked 9 times in total vs MIZZOU and MSU AND 3 times in total vs Florida and ole miss and those sacks especially vs MSU were often extremely untimely

So you could certainly argue that under Johnson the offense as a whole operated more efficiently and was far less one dimensional and predictable. LSU out possessed both Florida and ole miss with an average time of possession of 32.35 and they were out possessed by MIZZOU and Mississippi state with an average time of possession of 29.21. Which may not seem like much but is certainly crucial to a young hurting defense with several players out
