I want to take the sago palm out of my garden. It is in the bed on the corner.

What are some good options to replace it with?
Max height about 8 ft.

I like fountain grass but you can get a variety of crepe myrtle that only gets that high.

If you can find them, these are nice and meet the height criteria.

You looking for a evergreen shrub, deciduous (loses leaves in winter) or does it matter? What are light conditions - full sun, parial sun?

Parial sun - number of Camellia sasanqua (evergreen) that top out around 8 feet. For example Leslie Ann Camellia LINK

Numerous varieties of dwarf crape myrtles (deciduous)

Some newer varieties of dwarf Vitex (Chaste Tree) that are getting good reviews.

Either one. I don't want any more palms though. Had 3 sagos in the back and one in the front. Pulled the 3 in the back up because of the dog, and now i really just don't like the look of this one.

Gets good morning sun, then shaded from an oak tree in the afternoon.

Then sounds like the Leslie Ann Camellia sansaqua could be a good choice for you. Camellias grow slowly so you’ll usually pay more for large specimens than for other shrubs. Maybe look for 7 to 10 gallon size. A 3 gallon size may take a while to grow to the size where it stands out in the landscape.

My 3 Sago Palms hit the curb some years ago - they look good for the first several years but go downhill after that.
