Draft is a month away, think we'll get Kimbrel after?

I'm sure we won't be the only team going after him, just wondering what your thoughts are.

Probably not. Someone will invest more in him than we are willing.

Just read that the Mets are "negotiations" with him FWIW
Signing with Braves is kind of a pipe dream anyway but it's really gonna piss off Braves fans if he signs with a division rival.

It's really annoying how these players hold out this long. Do I want him? Sure. Do I respect him? No.

AA constantly said throughout the offseason that he was going to save 10 million or so for in season acquisitions.
Do we need a starting position player? Nope
Do we need a backup position player? Nope
Do we need a starting pitcher? Not with all the young guys
Do we need a relief pitcher or two? Hell yes
If Kimbrel is available after the draft, I do see us making a strong offer since it would not cost prospects. Guarantee a 2019 salary instead of prorating it, and then add a second or third season without costing anything.
The Giants have the best pen in baseball and they have already said that they are already taking offers. Sam Dyston(5 mil), Will Smith(4.5 mil), and Tony Watson(3.25 mil) are all on their last years on their contracts and the prorate would be more than manageable. Plus, it wouldnt take too much to get guys like that. We would need to trade guys on the 40 man, so someone like a Kolby Allard and Bryse Wilson would probably be the top piece heading back to San Francisco.

I wouldn't believe anything that douche AA says.

According to a guy on Reddit (I know strong soruce), Kimbrel really wants to play in Atlanta and retire here just not for the offer he was given.
I do however expect us to make a good offer after the draft

Don’t get the obsession with Kimbrel. Even the Red Sox, who could use a closer, aren’t showing him the money. Allocating that much to an aging relief pitcher is not smart.

Its because Kimbrel has not came off his demands. If he was willing to take a one year deal, he would have already. He asking price was between David Robertson's 3/33 and someone else that was like 3/42.
June 6 sign
2019-8 million(not-prorated)
2020-13 million
2021-15 million
He would sign that with the quickness because he wants to be a Brave and retire here and will give the team every opportunity to match any offer, or to give him something somewhat fair.

If his ask was between 33 and 42, several teams would have signed him by now imo. Maybe not the braves, but several other teams. I heard recently he backed off the 6 years, but nothing about a dollar amounts
