As y’all know, Werner was co-OC and qb coach at Ole Miss in 2015. The offense averaged 505 ypg and finished 13th in country. Also co-OC in 2016 and offense got 469 ypg even though the record was only 5-7.....but they did beat Georgia by the largest margin in series history, 45-14.

In our Spring Game there were two plays that looked nothing like our Roper offense of the past two years. One was a pass play to the right side and the receiver was running free and wide open - the LB’s looked frozen as the RPO play had them thinking run play and the receiver had just slipped behind the LB’s. The other was just a handoff to the RB off tackle but the DL and LB’s seemed to be on their heels/off balance with confusion and the hole on the right side was huge.

Those two plays were “chunk” yardage plays that went for 15-20 easy yards before the ball carrier was even touched. That was just a small sample of the kind of chunk yardage plays we’re gonna see this fall.

I expect this offense to be fun to watch and to be at least a top 50 offense. That will be a HUGE improvement over whatever it was Roper was doing.....and as I said in another thread, a Top 50 offense last year would have meant the UK and TAMU games were wins instead of losses and that would have been a 10 win regular season for Muschamp in only his second year. That’s amazing!

It looks like they're crafting an O by committee. With Werner's background, I'm ok with that.

I feel like Werner is in place to mentor our young OC. Moving to a fast pace O, IMO will be the biggest/best change to our system.

I hated it when other teams did this to us but am excited to have our own up tempo offense now. I’m looking forward to see what Werner does here in his first season as a Gamecock. Anything is better than that head scratcher of an offense that Roper ran the past couple years.

One thing that is for certain is that Muschamp has really gone all in with the change. He's hired the right people to install the system and he's been talking to coaches who've run it successfully.

If you are going to make a change, make a big change and commit to it wholeheartedly.

I'm loving the whole fast paced uptempo thing BMac, Wolf and Werner are working on ... and let's give Bobby B some love too because he knows a little about uptempo offenses.

Still, ball control is important and you can run fast paced stuff all day ... as long as you're scoring TDs.

Otherwise the defense suffers and I can guarantee Boom ain't gonna let that happen.

Time of possession is still where it's at ... now, if our D can continue to force turnovers like they do that would offset some of the risks.

Everything has to jive in order for this thing to pay off big for us this season.
