SAT Range

SMU 1300-1470 Arkansas 1090-1290

ACT Range

SMU 28-32 Arkansas 23-28

SMU:Can I get into SMU? These admission statistics provide an indication how difficult it is to get in and what your chances are. 6,360 out of 12,992 applicants or 49% were admitted making SMU a more competitive school to get into with a good chance of acceptance for average applicants.  Academically, it has extremely high requirements for admission test scores. Only 22% of those admitted chose to enroll in the school.

ARKANSAS: Can I get into Arkansas? These admission statistics provide an indication how difficult it is to get in and what your chances are. 12,337 out of 20,542 applicants or 60% were admitted making Arkansas a moderately competitive school to get into with a strong chance of acceptance if you meet the requirements.  Academically, it has difficult requirements for admission test scores. Only 40% of those admitted chose to enroll in the school.

Holy crap... that is a pretty big difference.

So, Morris had to recruit players that would essentially meet quite a bit tougher standards at SMU than at Arkansas.

Might explain the recruiting rankings. June Jones mentioned this as a problem when he was coach there as well.

Just food for thought@ WPS!

You’re going too far now. We like it. We like the hire. No need for a spin. Harvard has a football team that plays well with occasional good athletes. Let’s look at Stanford’s #’s. There are ways around everything. This really means nothing.

This is an ignorant level of spin

Every school has dumbass football players. Period

I am not trying to spin anything. I simply looked up the rumor from June Jones, and others claiming that his recruiting would be better without having to meet admission requirements higher than usual.

LMAO!

THoughts like this caused me to look it up.

Morris recruited at the same level or worse than the previous coaching staffs at SMU. He certainly did not stand out in any way that would make me think he was anything other than average at best at recruiting.

smu isnt some academic powerhouse (as you can see above with the 50% acceptance rate). its just very hoytie toytie. money matters more than brains

i think it’s just hard to recruit to bc ever since the death penalty there’s been no football swag there, only rich kid swag. hard to just build that culture

without having to meet admission requirements

Here's the requirements

Be 6'4, stacked, black, run a 4.4

Quit with the "admission requirements". They don't matter for football players at SMU, and they don't matter here

It also costs more to attend SMU than it does Harvard which I really don't understand.
