I fully believe this scenario will be dead when we crush Auburn and rip out their soul Saturday, but...

I never thought there would ever be even the most remote chance of Alabama and Auburn facing each other in the national championship game, and certainly not a two-loss Auburn team. But here we are with ample opportunity for this very scenario to occur.

If Auburn's detestable Jordan Hare luck comes through yet again, how far does Alabama fall? And if Miami beats Clemson and Ohio State beats Wisconsin, is Alabama really left out of the equation?

It sounds ludicrous, but so did the same basic line of thought in 2011. Could Alabama really leapfrog another team to make it into the BCS championship game without winning an SEC title in a rematch against a team they already lost to? The answer then was yes, and rightfully so.

Again, this is not going to happen, because Auburn will wilt in the presence of our glory. But if it did, what would happen to the state of Alabama on that day?

Maybe if FSU hadn't mailed the season in.

We lose, we are out.
