How safe is Jacobs right now?

I've been in the fire Jacobs bandwagon since 2008. I'm sure most of us here and most AU fans with a clue are right there with me.
After last season that talk had maybe never been more strong. There were even tumors of Jacobs being forced to retire over the summer. But during the win streak when it looked like AU would be playing Bama for a spot in the SECCG, that talk was silent.
Now don't give me wrong I'm as pissed as anyone with how the season ended, but 3 weeks ago I was genuinely concerned how an SEC championship and CFP appearance would have affected JJ's longevity. Combine that with Pearl's come up of the basketball program, and our fearless leaders might just have locked in Jacobs for a lifetime contract. It would've at least kept him safe til the end of ge decade. Even somebody like me who would have still wanted Jacobs fired regardless would have been forced to temporarily put down the pitch fork.
I'm a glass half full kind of guy. If the suffering from the end and beginning of this season can help lead to finally firing Jacobs then I can almost accept that as it would be best for the long term health of the overall Athletic Department IMO.
What do y'all think?

Safer than a baby in its crib. I've been on the fire Jacobs train for a long time too, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up anytime soon. Auburn has proven it enjoys the good ole boy network too much.

He's not going anywhere until he wants to.

Not with that attitude.
If enough fans speak loud enough, and speak with their wallets then Auburn's hand could be forced at any point. The cries were loud enough after last season to get the rumor mill going.

Dude is safe because Gogue does not care for any of the athletic programs. We will see if the new university president cares more soon.

I don't like him at all, but he's now got women's soccer to go along with softball and equestrian. Men's basketball is starting look like they could be approaching their potential and he may very likely have a football team in the Sugar Bowl (possibly the least qualified Sugar Bowl team ever), but that will still be on his resume.
We've been bitching about here for years and unless somebody with a lot more money than most people here is willing to pull the trigger, we are stuck with him.

So are you going to pull out the millions (or hundreds of thousands) of dollars you contribute to the program?
Because you do realize that the people who do contribute at those levels like Jacobs just fine, right?
And that that kind of attitude is no different than the vast majority of other Power Five conference schools and their big money donors? That Auburn is not unique in that regard?
But do feel free to keep dreaming your dream and denying reality.

There are a lot of people at the University who want Jacobs gone. One professor in the school of business did a study on AU winning percentage across all major sports since Jay Jacobs has been AD..
Auburn is LAST in the conference in wins across all sports in the 10+ years Jacobs has been AD. The problem is that all Auburn people care about really is football. If football does OK, he's fine, especially if the books are balanced.
Auburn is making money in the Athletics Department. Football has done just barely enough to keep from firing Gus and there havent been any instances of the bagman network being busted. So, he's safe. If Pearl turns in a good shooty hoops season, he's golden.
Clint Myers made girls softball interesting and that only leaves mens baseball to develop.
Still frick JAY JACOBS and his Clemson scheduling, mega TV buying arse.

You must have been so disappointed when we were winning. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Remember how Auburn was a swimming juggernaut before Jacobs became the AD?
Good times.

He is locked in his role for the long haul. Might as well accept it.

We haven't had anyone with any real chops or outside experience in that job since Mike Luke in '92. That's 24 year of herp derp good ol boys keeping the money in the "family" and taking "yassa boss" orders from the power cats. We seem to like it that way. Housel was embarrassing with his Ozymandias diatribes and Jacobs is a Gomer Pyle bumpkin who has never held a job outside of Lee County...Think about that for a second.

Who hired Tiny Tot.
Damn, if we only had another Mike Lude.

Safe until the new president gets in and does all of whatever they want to get done on the academic side.
