So -19 yards you say?

Was it the fact that LSU defense was trumping our o-line or was it the fact that Dak has been coached out of running?
I saw more than a few occasions that the old Dak would have tucked and ran but he didn't. He will not play qb in the NFL so stop it already. Yes 64% of passes tonight was good but see Blake Simms and Tim Tebow. Run it Dak and stop playing with my emotions.

Probably less concerned with getting Dak NFL ready and more concerned with keeping him healthy

LSU has a good defense. Dak got you guys back in the game. Just couldn't pull it out in the end. It happens.

Stop bitching about they guy who almost won you the game by his damn self. If you want to complain, complain about our offensive line that literally shite all over the field tonight. They were so bad that we actually completely abandoned run blocking at halftime.

Dak could have pulled it so many times last night and had the entire side of the field open. I dont frickin get it.

+1
Dak not running anymore plus us not having a running game at all is gonna make us have a long arse season. You can't win shite in the SEC without a running game.

Shump doesn't need to be starting. Need someone to establish a consistent run

Shumpert is horrendous. He has no vision and is killing our running game. Hell, Holloway is getting more up the middle than Shumpert. Dan needs to abandon his loyalties to older players and give Lee and Williams a shot.

It isn't going to matter who is back there until our line learns to run block. Dak looked scared shitless in the first half because they literally couldn't handle picking up blitzes and run blocking, the scheme was simplified at half to where they were only pass blocking.
People need to lay off Shump, he isn't the problem. Hell, Aeris had one carry and got stuffed for about a 5 yard loss.

A little bit of both, but mainly the OL

That's because Dak made a terrible read on a zone read give.

I have a suspicion that none of our "zone read" plays are actually "read" plays.
I think it is a predetermined give. Dak doesn't just forget how to read those plays from last year to this year.

How about we don't call all options "zone read"?
If a pitch option is defended properly, there is no correct read. The keeper and the pitch options will both fail. You just have to take your medicine and move on to the next play.

I didn't think we were. Zone read plays are when the back crosses the QB's face on a dive projected path. The tackle on that side does not block the end. If the hesitates, you give, if he crashes, you keep.
ETA: There are multiple variations of a zone read, that is just the most common. You also have one where the back has a sweep projected path and the QB takes the dive. Reads are then different, but there are many different variations to a zone read.

If you are running an option to the outside with a pitch back, the back will never be covered up behind the QB. It is virtually impossible for a LB or CB to get that far behind the line to take away the pitch. If they do, the QB should keep and plow forward inside the end for whatever he can get, mainly hoping not to lose yardage.
There is a reason less talented teams run spread option offenses. Most of the time you cannot cover all of the options, thus making it easier for the offense. When you run it with talent it makes it even better.

I'm guessing you just stopped reading.
Instead of replying like a dick to your comment, I was trying to explain. I apologize for trying to extend you that courtesy.

My comment one was about using the term read option. The play we were discussing was not a read option.
My comment two was that the pitch option was properly defended making it a lose-lose situation provided they make the tackle. The statement was that it was a bad read on Dak's part. My comment was basically that it didn't matter if he kept it or pitched it since they had both options covered.
I was a DC in the 70's and 80's. We had to stop shite like the veer and wishbone. I know more than a little bit about defending the QB and the pitch man.
