With USC, LSU, Texas Tech, TCU, UConn, potentially Florida even, etc all looking for new coaches, the carousel is going to get pretty wild in a few weeks.

How bad is the UGA staff going to get decimated?

Not saying any of our coordinators etc are candidates for any of these specifically, but other vacancies will be created when those seats are filled

At minimum, we’ll lose Lanning dont you think? I dont know what Monken or Muschamps plans are at this stage in their careers

Muschamp is living on a really sweet buyout right now, with his son on the roster, so if he left it would have to be a really really sweet gig, and I don't think any of the really sweet gigs are looking too closely at him.

But if Lanning leaves, guess who is our new DC?

Wouldn't Schumann get preference as DC over Boom?

The fired head coach from USC just accepted the Georgia Southern job a couple days ago

The California invasion of Georgia is real

Im not going to ever get worried about what will happen to a Kirby Smart defense no matter whi is coordinater. It will always be in good hands. Id hate to lose Monken though. He is a great fit imo

At this point, all signs point to Monken being gone assuming he gets an offer he wants. Best hope there is for him to only see offers from mid-tier or worse programs where we could make a competitive offer to retain him as OC. He was viewed as a one year rental, that got extended to two probably due in large part to Covid impacts on practices and ability to implement his offense.

Outside of Monken, in order of most likely to get close looks:

Dan Lanning - almost assuredly is going to get a good look from a few programs. All-World Defense on top tier program, young coordinator, who has also been a good recruiter... seems to have the "grind" mentality if you read up on his story of becoming a coach. He'll be an attractive target if a school doesn't have their heart set on an "offensive mind" as has been the trend of late.

**(Is there anyone on the staff that he would try to poach? This may depend on where his landing spot would be.)**

As you said above, I'm not overly concerned about a DC loss, this is manageable... I would like to see Schumann elevated to DC over Muschamp personally as he's been a part of the build here... Make Muschamp something like an Associate HC if you have to pay him, but would be curious how much longer his buyout is being paid by South Carolina and if there is even a need to bump his pay yet.

Glenn Schumann - *If* Boom is promoted to DC, could easily see him leaving to go take an actual full fledged DC role, despite being young. He's only 4 years younger than Dan Lanning, and Dan got the lead DC role 3 years ago. If not now, when would he earn the DC role with Kirby? I think he's so young, that if we can promote him to DC and he continues to have success, you'll have 3+ years of continuity again at the DC spot because he won't be an immediate target as a HC elsewhere.

Dell McGee - An absolutely impressive run of recruiting success. Not sure if someone will target him as an OC, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Tray Scott - #firetrayscott was a common rallying cry around these parts a few years ago. My God has he shut that shite down in grand fashion. The DL as gone quite quickly from a point of constant gear grinding and teeth gnashing to an impressively stout strength here. Losing JD99 will suck, but we're continuing to recruit well here. I think we're *probably* safe on this front on the collegiate level, but no clue if he has aims/goals of going NFL. I could easily see him getting targeted there.

**Scott Cochran** - He's back with the team but not in his on field role. Will he be back in a position coach role next season? I'm assuming yes at this stage, but not necessarily a given...
