They knew the next TV contract was going to be really low and they felt they had to move to another conference. I'm sure the reason they chose the SEC is because of the TV money AND playing more power teams helps to recruit. You are not wrong about the money but I assure you OU and TEXAS are not moving so they can suck and get paid for it.

Whatever your school expects and demands from the football team isn't anything like OU and Texas. Any reasonable fan knows OU is not going to win the conference every year. But with a 12 team playoff, the SEC may have as many as 4 potential playoff teams which is why the PAC. BIG, and ACC had their parley.

Making the playoffs is the number two team goal for many schools especially in the SEC. The boost to recruiting for teams that make the playoffs is significant.

1, win their conference, 2, make playoffs, 3, win a natty and if Missouri's football team's goal is to play second fiddle every year you need a new AD and Coach.

I said Texas is moving to suck and get paid for it, not OU. Texas already sucks so it's not exactly a controversial statement. But you're kidding yourself if you think OU is going to maintain the level of dominance over the SEC that they had over the Big 12. OU has literally one other program on their level in the Big 12, and the biggest story coming out of that other program is that a coach's stripper girlfriend owns a trained monkey who bit a kid. There will be seven other programs of equal or greater stature to OU in the SEC.

I think OU will average out to being about a 9-3 team, they will certainly have good seasons and may occasionally win the conference, but it's not going to be 11-1 and a gimme conference title every year like the Big 12 post-2011.
