They knew the next TV contract was going to be really low and they felt they had to move to another conference. I'm sure the reason they chose the SEC is because of the TV money AND playing more power teams helps to recruit. You are not wrong about the money but I assure you OU and TEXAS are not moving so they can suck and get paid for it.
I said Texas is moving to suck and get paid for it, not OU. Texas already sucks so it's not exactly a controversial statement. But you're kidding yourself if you think OU is going to maintain the level of dominance over the SEC that they had over the Big 12. OU has literally one other program on their level in the Big 12, and the biggest story coming out of that other program is that a coach's stripper girlfriend owns a trained monkey who bit a kid. There will be seven other programs of equal or greater stature to OU in the SEC.
I think OU will average out to being about a 9-3 team, they will certainly have good seasons and may occasionally win the conference, but it's not going to be 11-1 and a gimme conference title every year like the Big 12 post-2011.

he might leave at some point but I think he is going to stay put until he gets his dream job. But why would he take the Dallas job since the owner has fired not one but three coaches who won a Superbowl and two are in the NFL Hall of Fame? He is better where he is until he takes a new job. We shouldn't assume he will leave because OU will roll the contract for more money and terms every time the HC puts a good product on the field.
The last football HC to leave OU for another gig was Chuck Fairbanks. He took OU's defense with him to NE which is how the NFL realized the 3 4 would work at the professional level.

Where did I suggest OU would win the conference every year? I'm pretty sure I stated any reasonable fan knew they wouldn't. I'm surprised you do not realize you don't have to win the SEC conference to make a 12 team playoff. That is where the big prize will be every year. Making the playoffs enhances recruiting and revenue, and winning the Natty is an enhancement on steroids. Didn't I mention that already?

Going 9-3 won’t get you in the playoffs… even if it’s a 12 team league. In all seriousness, do you believe OU can be a 10-2 team in the SEC in the next 4 years?

Missouri and A and M adjusted just fine in the SEC. IN fact, Missouri won two div titles right off the bat which is all they had in the Big 12.
Look I know the SEC is tough but part of that reason is because of the recruiting edge the SEC provides. I am tired of stating I know OU will not win the SEC every year but OU will have as much ambition as any other team in the SEC. Making the playoffs from the SEC is already easier and with the pending playoff expansions, it will become easier.
Making the playoffs is hitting the homerun for any school and yes OU will make the playoffs. Maybe not as much as now but there is too much money in college football not to expand the playoffs. The only team in the SEC that has a better history than OU is Bama. Now OU will have the same advantage that made Kentucky and Vandy good. Being in the SEC.
And to clarify, when I suggested making the playoffs from the SEC is easier it is more about they have had TWO teams in the playoffs with a 4 team playoff. IN fact, once or twice they almost had three teams in a 4 team playoff. The question becomes, how many will make it with a 12 team playoff.

OU… it’s your time to shine against your first top 25 team. Will y’all move up past 7 in this week in the CFP poll? Time will tell
