So you’re telling me y’all are nothing but fair weather fans? Oof.
No, I’m telling you it’s a different situation when the coach and team (for the most part) aren’t even trying. That wasn’t the case even in those terrible 1990s teams.

I went to high school in Alabama for two years when Shula was coach in 2004 and 2005. Friends I had and people I knew showed 0 interest in football, never discussed it, nor wore anything pertaining to Alabama. There were some open Alabama fans, but Auburn fans showed out the most for obvious reasons.
FF to 2012, those same people will convince a stranger their first words as a baby were Roll Tide.

no, that's not true. What is true is when LSU isn't good, their fans don't show up.
1990 - 5-6 record, 0 sellouts in Tiger Stadium, average attendance percentage of 89% (low of 63,237, or 78.9% for a conference game)
1991 - 5-6 record, 0 sellouts in Tiger Stadium, average attendance percentage of 86% (low of 64,341, or 80.4% for a conference game)
1992 - 2-9 record, 0 sellouts in Tiger Stadium, average attendance percentage of 84% (low of 57,641, or 71.9% for a conference game)
Contrast that to Alabama:
2000 - 3-8 record, all home games were sellouts, including a loss to UCF
2003 - 4-9 record, all home games were sellouts
2006 - 6-6 record, all home games were sellouts
