Jahvon Quinerly Named to 2022 Bob Cousy Award Watch List

Annual award recognizes the top point guard in all of college basketball

Alabama men's basketball guard Jahvon Quinerly is one of 20 candidates selected to the 2022 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award Watch List, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Monday morning.

Quinerly is the first Alabama guard to be named to the preseason watch list since Collin Sexton was selected prior to the 2017-18 campaign.

Named after Class of 1971 Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic and Holy Cross guard Bob Cousy, the annual honor now in its 19th year recognizes the top point guards in Division I men's college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates.

College basketball fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies in each of the three rounds. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the 2022 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award will be narrowed to 10 and then in late February to just 5. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Mr. Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected.

Jahvon Quinerly Notes

*Returns this season as the team's leader in assists per game (3.2 apg) and three-point percentage (43.3 percent, 52-of-120)
*Was the team's second-leading scorer from a year ago (12.9 ppg) and also ranked second in field goals made (142) and attempted (297)
*Named the 2021 SEC Tournament Most Outstanding Player after leading UA to the championship where he averaged 15.7 points and 3.0 assists while shooting 59.4 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from beyond the arc in Nashville
*Played in 30 contests making seven starts and finishing with 23 double-figure scoring games, including each of his final 15 contests to end the season
*Ranked second in the conference and 26th nationally in threes made per game (2.93)
*Recorded the second-most assists in an NCAA Tournament game in program history and first career double-double by going for 14 points and 11 assists in the second round win over Maryland

Still no idea on this. Is there anything on any of the pay boards that some of you are on?
