Confusion at LOS

This defense doesn't have just one issue, and I don't think it is fixable this year.
They seem confused at the line of scrimmage. I routinely see 2 guys not engaged with opponents, sealed off from the running lane, right next to each other. Is this scheme, thinking too much, or not enough?
The Oline was confused on the first 2 series, then Drink seemed to have them better prepared. Seemed like they understood assignments better, and he gave them plays they could execute against the defense.

I was shocked that even early on the D was lackadaisical getting set. I commented that maybe Wilks needs to visit SECrant in that everyone in these forums knew TN ran an uptempo offense. Did he not?
At a minimum they should have been doing drills all week consisting of getting on your feet quickly after the whistle blows.

Read and react 2.0? Bc we know how well that worked the last time bc they could do all but 2 of these.
