When I look at CSP I see a Teaching Coach

...as opposed to a 'CEO' coach like Bob Stoops, or an 'Whiz kid X-O's' coach like Leach or Kiffin, or maybe a HMFIC coach like Meyer or Saban.
I see Pittman as spending the majority of his time in practice in front of the individual player, coaching him up from the ground up as if he were still a position coach. He's not delegating it to the coordinator, or up in a tower looking down over the field like he's God screaming at players through a bullhorn. He's actually the one going through the whole process to the individual players, hands on, making sure they know not only what to do and how to do it, but why they do it, so they know where they fit in the larger picture.
If this is the case it'd go along way as to why he'd get passed over for HC jobs over the years as he wouldn't fit the mold most would be looking for, regardless of his abilities. It'd explain, at least to me, specifically what he means when he says 'I've got to do it my way,' warning people Stoops or Leach isn't walking through the door.
Just how I see it every time I see him give an interview, like he's a HS HC down in the trenches on every play making sure players know and by in.

Pittboss is a great coach. I loved him at UGA. I think Arkansas struck gold with him.

we loved him here too before he came to you guys, and apparently every player he has ever coached felt the exact same way, or they wouldn't have written a letter to our AD telling him that Sam pittman was the man, and he loves the hogs.

Offensive line is probably the most technically complicated part of the football team but also the most transposable across schemes.
I think this helps Pittman out in a variety of ways. As you said, Leopold, he’s a technician or “teacher.” The underrated thing about their rise has been PIttman’s willingness to not be a meathead and demand 1990s SEC offense from his OC. The blocking is all basically the same no matter how you scheme it up and he just went with what was modern and hard to defend. When you are an OLC for enough different coaches and coordinators, you probably lose some dogmatic ties to specific schemes.
I’m going to say it: more career OLCs should be given a chance with the head job.
