Bobby Bowden proved that if you're a good enough coach and willing to put in the time, you can make it a destination job.

I think it's possible but you still need a certain level of commitment from the school and a good talent base from which to recruit.

Every school doesn't have those things.

You also need the stars to align so you're able to win with some lesser talented teams just to get on the radar and the odds are usually stacked against that.

Except Bowden wanted to leave twice and take the Bama job in the 80s. They wouldn't hire him for some reason.
And FSU isn't exactly a destination job since Stoops turned them down to stay at UK.
