Maybe these 3 freshman were encouraged to leave 
I will say that if we were depending on them to anchor our lineup we were probably in big trouble . We see players hit the portal in FB we automatically say they were lazy , got passed up by better players , making room for other transfers , locker room cancers etc,…it happens in softball and it’s the coaches fault

Apples and oranges. Not a single transfer off the football team was a player looking at guaranteed starting time next season with the exception of maybe Billingsley and we all know why he transferred.
Losing Lord, Goodnight, and Bloodworth would be more comparable to say Brooks, Turner, and Kool-aid hitting the portal the week after the national title game. If that had happened you can bet people would be questioning Saban and why he let 3 probable starters walk out the door.
