The Corp “triggers” me for a few reasons.

1.) I realize this is an over generalization but every Corp member I’ve met or been friends with (which is many) think they are a “better” Aggie and “keeper of the spirit” vs the non-regs. I realize not all will have this mentality of course but it’s been my experience

2.) When you meet someone outside Texas, they think everyone was in the corps. That’s the first question I get when someone finds out I went to A&M. Again a student organization of 5%.

3.) this is not the corps fault explicitly and it’s not right, but the corp of cadets propagates the “A&M is racist” myth in my opinion.

Holy crap.

1) I think they are not the ONLY keepers of the spirit, but are clearly the most direct link to the core of it. This is like resenting the actual military because they have a sense of duty to the country. Plenty of other people have that sense, too. Doesn’t mean it detracts from them. It seems like you are projecting and/or exaggerating something.

2) You resent the corps because people outside the school easily associate them with A&M? I don’t even know what this means, much less how it’s the Corps’ fault.

3) This is the coup de grace of the inanity of this thread. I literally don’t have the words to counter this. It just seems like you want to reward ignorance.

One of best friends is an Ag, and he has similar feelings about the Corps. Why does such a small percentage of the student body warrant this kind of attention?

Comparing the Corps to the ‘actual military’…
