It's a matter of when and not if the SEC expands again. Florida State is really wanting out of the ACC and, when they leave, Clemson is sure to follow. Once those two schools have departed, the ACC will collapse and there will be another scramble to gobble up certain teams before other conferences have a chance.

Florida State, Clemson, and Virginia Tech all make sense for membership in the SEC because those fan bases fit our culture. It's also an added bonus that all three schools reside in the Old South and thus make geographic sense as well. But we can't take just three schools as everyone loves an even number. So that leaves schools such as North Carolina, Duke, Miami and Georgia Tech on the table as potential fourth teams.

Not sure why as they seem to be far behind the curve of what would be required to be successful in the SEC.

With the PAC 12 on the way to no longer being a P5 conference I could easily see in the near future a playoff system based on the 4 P5 conferences that would allow for something like each conference guaranteeing 4 teams in for a 16-team playoff. Or at least 2 spots with opportunity for wild card spots.
