Now I am glad Mullen put Jones in for Trask so often

It will be interesting to see how he uses Richardson this season.

Where is this coming from?

Word is around camp that Richardson has looked really, really good and that Emory is still struggling to throw.

now that is something worth looking into

Whether Jones or Richardson, excited to have a dual threat QB. Loved Trask, but we were one dimensional on offense. Seems like Mullen’s offenses really thrive when he has a running QB.

I think last year's offense was literally the best offense that we had since Mullen's last year at Florida. Scoring wise 2009 was at 43, we had 40 last year.
That was an extremely good offense.
The only difference is that this offense will be able to smother a bit more, have a lot more control, and will be a lot more dangerous in the Red Zone because there are so many things to keep track of.
But there is this idea that the offense last year struggled for being one dimensional but it literally set several Florida offensive records.

I can totally see a true dual threat scenario, with both getting significant snaps per game. that will totally screw with defenses in how to scheme us. I'm excited to see it this year.

Yes, you have a serious power runner with Anthony Richardson and more of a finesse runner with Emory Jones.
Emory Jones on a speed option would be really, really dangerous. Especially with the backfield we have. The read option with Anthony Richardson will also be scary.
If we keep getting these types of big, bruiser Quarterbacks and stacked running back rooms with big, physical receivers, we could do some real damage no matter what our line is doing.

Have you heard the old saying "if you have two quarterbacks then you have no quarterbacks". Splitting time between two qbs is normally not a good thing.

Richardson is a load with his size, but from limited sample sizes he definitely wants to run first and passing skillset is to be determined.
The great thing about having mobile QBs is that they can catch defenses flatfooted when they expect run and a WR is wide open. Last year defenses were only concerned with the pass defense.

I'd roll with Richardson since he looks better in the run game to me. Hell, Mullen did well with Nick Whatshisname and he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

Osborne, I think it was Nick Fitzpatrick ?? And you are correcto mondo about his throwing...God awful....but he could run.

You must have missed 2006.

One whole year against dozens of others is not very good odds

Osborne...I remember Mullen's first year at UF and we had to travel to Starkvegas to play moo state...Fitzgerald was blitzed early and often and couldn't throw a football, reminded me of the dark days before Spurrier arrived.
Hate to criticize Gators, but Donald Douglass, Lex Smith were very inept. The QB play went to hell in a handbasket when Kerwin Bell departed.

I mean, outside of Alabama no one is winning much of anything. One year is about all you can hope for in modern football.
They're not such drastically different Quarterbacks to be much of a problem, but this idea that it's so farfetched as to not be tried is a little specious.
Especially if Anthony Richardson is used in the Red Zone like Tebow was in 2006. You don't need to go full on musical chairs, but there will definitely be packages to roll him out.

It can work in situational packages like you said, but it sounds like they are still battling it out in practice. If you're still trying to figure out who the starter is and giving them each equal reps then it's not a good situation.

I would definitely spend less time worrying about Mullen and Quarterbacks, honestly.
It'll shake out just fine with either Emory or Richardson.
Feleipe Franks is long gone, and all of the guys on the roster at the position are better than he is.

If it were most other coaches I’d be worried. Mullen seems to have good luck with qbs.

I’m not stressing about it. Just pointing out that it’s not usually a good thing to have a qb battle this late in the season. But Slayer brings up a good point about it being Mullen.
