This. Who even challenged them that year with a tough game? Was Florida State any good in 2001? Their schedule was arse patties that year if I remember correctly. 2001 Tennessee/Florida would have given them the toughest shot in the Rose Bowl, at least better than Nebraska did that year.

Correct. Their actual season was nothing special for a national champion.
