Then why didn’t LSU keep Les Miles?

C'mon really? How are the situations even remotely comparable?

Aside from Les turning out to be a creep, yes they are. In a sense.

Alabama was wanting to transition to the science based approach to strength and conditioning for some time. They were getting ready to open the new sports science center the year Cochran left. He wasn’t too on board with changing the approach he had been successful with. He was also wanting to get on the field. Saban didn’t exactly push him out but he wasn’t going to give him an on-the-field job either.

Both sides got what they wanted in the end. But I certainly don’t see how you can fault Saban for forcing his hand. He wasn’t anymore obligated to keeping Cochran than LSU was with Miles, just because of past service.
