A better argument would be the 77 team.
Arkansas should claim 1965. If the rules hadn’t been changed for that year only, Arkansas would have been the champs. Alabama is going to claim it either way, but so should Arkansas. Just my opinion..

It’s not about Alabama claiming it. The AP named them national champions. Michigan State won the UPI prior to bowl loss.
