Vandy is private so that's kind of a different deal since they don't get state funding but they also have no restrictions on how they use their endowment.

Texas is the monster at over $31 Billion but they share it with some of their satellites like UTD, UT Arlington, UTEP, and UTSA which are all large schools, also MD Anderson in Houston, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and the new Med School in Austin get to draw on it. A&M has to share as well within their part of system but none of the schools are big outside of the CS campus (A&M Galveston, Tarleton State, Prairie View, A&M Health Science Center) so if you get down to dollars per student in the systems it is actually pretty close between A&M and Texas. Also, both schools have most of their endowments tied up in the PUF which has a lot of restrictions on how much can be spent and what it can be spent on (interest only and mostly on buildings and infrastructure).
