Gonna blow your mind now and add Clayton Beauford to the list.
Gonna go back even further, to the first black QB in AU history: Charles Thomas

ETA: if you’re looking for a school with a long history of playing mediocre white QBs over black ones, consider this factoid:

If Charles Thomas had amassed identical stats playing for Alabama, he would have been the third most productive black QB in Crimson Tide history up until Blake Sims won the starting job in 2014.

I remember the awesome TV moment where one of the first female sideline reporters dared to ask The Great and Holy Bear at halftime why he kept subbing the utter mediocrity named Ken Coley in to replace the very, very talented Walter Lewis in the 1982 Iron Bowl.

His response (in a drunken slur) was “I’M TRYNA WINNA FOOBAWL GAME!”

And it was tough for him. I remember the fans booing him, and cheering the Sullivan legacy Joe Sullivan when he went in. I remember reading Thomas said he almost quit over that fan reaction.

I think it was the same year Barfield lost to Tenn 42-0 when we dedicated the new upper deck.
Barfield was on the downswing after that year....

But Thomas was a pretty good left handed QB, if I can remember.
