It depends on how the league is setup.

Mississippi State can go anywhere between 2-8 and 4-6 against Texas when they would go 0-10 or a huge upset and go 1-9 against Alabama. If we get to trade Alabama every year for Texas, then there is potential there for it to be a net positive.

Look at the pod system that has been tossed around. A popular pod has LSU, A&M, Ole Miss and State. I know that there would be additional games, but look at what MSU has done against those three teams the past decade.

2020: 1-2
2019: 1-2
2018: 2-1
2017: 2-1 (Pod Champion)
2016: 2-1
2015: 0-3
2014: 2-1
2013: 1-2
2012: 0-3

Overall 11-16 and one year that they would have won the pod based on just the four. Three more seasons they were a close loss away from winning the pod.

Knock out Alabama every year, and you get a better chance in any other game. Its a win for teams like State.
