Double Pod Structure

Has anyone brought up a double pod structure? Each team plays each of the teams in their row and column each year for 6 total games. Remaining 3 games filled by teams outside your column and row.

MSU Ole Miss AU. UGA

Interesting idea.. but the way you presented it won’t work. No Bama vs Miss State.

interesting but, I think I prefer the rotating pod format more honestly.

Updated version that makes it more competitively balanced and keeps every major rivalry game

I've been putting that idea out there for years when the SEC goes to 16.
Each team has 1 designated rival in the other 3 pods.
You partner up the pods yearly & have the following schedule:
Games 1-3.....pod members
Game 4.....partnered pod rival
Games 5-7.....partnered pod teams
Games 8-9.....rivals from the other 2 pods
ex. for team A1
rivals: B1, C1, D1
Y1 - A2, A3, A4, B1 (pod B rival), B2, B3, B4, C1 (pod C rival), D1 (pod D rival)
Y2 - A2, A3, A4, C1 (pod C rival), C2, C3, C4, B1 (pod B rival), D1 (pod D rival)
Y3 - A2, A3, A4, D1 (pod D rival), D2, D3, D4, B1 (pod B rival), C1 (pod C rival)
You've played everybody in 3 years & full rotation on 6.
