Pods are Dumb

A pod system keeps a good number of the rivalries but also allows everyone to play everyone home and home every 4 years.

How does 3 permanent + 6 rotating not accomplish this? 3 permanent allows you to tailor each team’s rivals.

Alabama and Auburn should play.
Auburn and UGA should play.
Alabama and UT should play.
UT and Vandy should play.

Pods can’t accomplish that.

Pods CAN accomplish this.

Each team has 1 rival in each of the other pods:
A1/B1/C1/D1 rivals
A2/B2/C2/D2 rivals
A3/B3/C3/D3 rivals
A4/B4/C4/D4 rivals

Now pair up the pods yearly
Y1 - AB & CD
Y2 - AC & BD
Y3 - AD & BC

Everybody now has 9 conf. games.
ex. for team A1:

Y1 - A2, A3, A4, B1 (rival), B2, B3, B4, C1 (rival), D1 (rival)
Y2 - A2, A3, A4, C1 (rival), C2, C3, C4, B1 (rival), D1 (rival)
Y3 - A2, A3, A4, D1 (rival), D2, D3, D4, B1 (rival), C1 (rival)

I guess you'ld say mine has 6 perm. & 3 yearly rotating.

I’d say this is preferable to losing a game like Auburn-UGA, but it’d take two more years to rotate home and away through every team.
