That gets really complicated really fast, especially projecting those out over multiple years and organizing them by week to make the most attractive tv schedules, which is what this is all about.

In a conference with 16 teams, how many teams do you imagine are in those pods that you'd be playing every year. :)

You already had bama with two permanents as UTenn, Auburn. Who is their third?
Auburn has bama and UGA. Who’s theirs?
UGA has UF and Auburn. Who’s theirs?
UT has Bama and Vandy. Who is theirs?
Now, try to do it and make the schedule remotely even.
