Stanley Umude
Class: Senior
Height/Weight: 6-6, 210 lbs
Previous School: South Dakota
Stats from 2020-21 season
MPG: 32.3
PPG: 21.6
3P%: 35.5
RPG: 7.0
-Played two P5 schools in 20-21, scored 25 against Nebraska and 24 against Colorado
-As a sophmore, went into Allen Fieldhouse (Kansas) and scored 28 points
-3 straight years of having an offensive rating above 102
-In 25 games this past year, only failed to reach double digit points in one game
-12 double-doubles last year
The defender is forced to respect Umude's range so much so that he is further from the basket than he is comfortable with, Umude takes advantage of this with a nice drive.
Because of the play before, the defender sits back a little closer to the basket. Umude punishes him for not respect his shooting ability.
Umude faces up against 3rd team AA in Dedric Lawson, nice first step and spin move for the basket.
Another face up, the defender must respect Umude's ability to shoot and isn't quick enough to stay in front of him when he attacks the basket.
Bottom Line: Umude is one of the best scorers in the country. He can essentially score at every level but prefers to start outside of the paint. He isn't afraid to use the paint if a mismatch or advantage presents itself. Often the opposing team must put someone who is big but too slow for him or quick but too small for him. His defense isn't great but he has shown the ability to play solid on that end of the court. Not an amazing athlete but plays smart and knows how to get an open look. Has many characteristics that Muss looks for in a wing and player overall. As long as he plays solid defense, no reason he won't be competing as the points leader for the team.
