Glad to see this young man’s 2nd Amendment rights upheld

quote:

Former Clemson cornerback Derion Kendrick cleared a hurdle on Friday to his playing the Tigers with his new team in the Georgia Bulldogs.

Kendrick had expunged, as expected, gun and marijuana charges incurred this March in his hometown of Rock Hill, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Per reports, he was charged with unlawful possession of a gun and simple possession of marijuana, but the expungement means they are no longer on any record against him after he completed a pretrial intervention program.

Between this and Arik Gilbert being on track to be eligible this year, week 1 vs Clemson should be very fun

OP says:

quote:

Georgia Transfer CB Derion Kendrick has all charges dropped

Then the story quoted in his very post says:

quote:

Kendrick had expunged, as expected, gun and marijuana charges incurred this March in his hometown of Rock Hill, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Per reports, he was charged with unlawful possession of a gun and simple possession of marijuana, but the expungement means they are no longer on any record against him after he completed a pretrial intervention program.

So, no, he didn't have the charges dropped. He was given the chance to clear his record by successfully completing a diversionary sentence.

That means nobody, including the defendant, said he didn't do it. The court and prosecution said here's your chance to save yoursef, don't frick it up and he didn't. That's good for all involved and, quite frankly, better than getting away with it.

Charges dismissed and expungement are two entirely different things. In most states, you can have your charges dismissed for a variety of reasons, but unless you go through the effort and expense of actually having the charges - and likely a mug shot - removed, there is still a public record of your arrest.

Good to hear. A college kid with weed, come on, who expects anything different and it’s not unlawful,to carry a gun. The real shite bird school is Clemson for cutting the kid loose in the first place. Dabo has really become holier than thou and particularly more douchy the longer he’s at Clemson. Kicking kids off w/o waiting for the chips to fall, running his mouth about other teams and making bad policy decisions such as not allowing transfers into their program will be their downfall. I expect UGA to wipe the field with them Sept 4th and that will signal the end of Clemson.
