Alabama Rowing Opens Fall Competition at Head of the Oklahoma
The Crimson Tide will race on the Oklahoma River in downtown Oklahoma City
Alabama rowing opens fall competition this weekend at the OCU Head of the Oklahoma, with two days of racing starting Saturday, Oct. 2.
The Crimson Tide will are slated to compete in the Collegiate 8+, Novice 4+ and Collegiate 4+ on Saturday before breaking into singles and pairs races on Sunday. The competition is the first of two fall races for Alabama in 2021, with the Tide competing in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, Oct. 30 against Clemson at the Head of the Black Warrior River.
Alabama is looking to build on one of its most successful seasons in program history, qualifying for its first ever NCAA Tournament in the spring of 2021. The Tide finished 13th in the 22-team national field, helping earn head coach Glenn Putyrae Rowing Coach of the Year accolades. Alabama earned its first top-10 ranking during the season, placing as high as No. 7, and medaled in all four races at the 2021 Big 12 Championships to earn its second-straight second place finish.
