Getting drafted into the black hole was the worst thing that happened for DMac. I've often wondered how different his pro career might have been in a somewhat balanced offense to keep defenses honest.

McFadden was a north and south runner, very little wiggle to his running. Running into piles and didn't really follow his blockers. He rarely bounced to the outside. Smith was a smarter runner and was far more productive.
I would done a controversial move and put him at free safety if I knew that his NFL career was going down the drain. I watched high school film of him on defense. He can hit hard and tackle from one end of the field to the other.
The man would have been making pro bowls each year.
