The idea of Tennessee football being a historical power is a sham built on flimsy national title claims.

There was a brief period where Tennessee was the team of the South but they’ve usually been at best the second fiddle in any given era. Florida was more dominant in the 90s SEC and had the h2h advantage in that decade too.
