Learn to navigate the lake first. You’ll get lost easily on Lake Martin if you don’t know where you’re at as all them damn islands look the same. As far as catching fish, what species do you want to target (bass, crappie, stripers, etc...)? All are different and require different terminal tackle as well as baits. I’ll say Lake Martin has some nice striper fishing that can be addictive

Three of us at Auburn at the same time. Late fall, water level down. Walking the shoreline. Youngest suddenly yells “ Got one!”
Line goes slack.
Tie a weight, hook and worm on
“Again!”
Line goes slack.
Hook up again “ Quit casting at that log”
Bam again…
Reel her in this time.
“ I told it was a fish!”
Five lb bass… all three hooks and worms in her mouth.

Honestly, at this point any fish will do. So I guess whatever is the easiest to catch

Working on that now. Honestly, to start I'll probably just fish off the dock + immediate area around their house for awhile.
Not trying to go crazy for now
