Alabama had the most impressive national championship win over a 6 win team, ever.

They weren’t scared. They were virtue signaling and grand standing.

Perhaps more importantly, it finally exposed the playoff committee's real intentions. They could wax poetically in the past about how one team was just a little better than someone else when all things were marginal at best. Not anymore.

They basically told the college football world that they figured out who deserved to be in the playoff regardless of whether they even managed to play football games on a full schedule. I think it did an immense amount of damage to the credibility and integrity of these soothsayers. That's all they turned out to be.

And that is another huge reason people want 8 teams.

I'm not sure where you got the impression the job of the playoff committee was anything other than putting the 4 best teams in the playoffs.

I actually side with this^^^ bama response because it has always amazed me the amount of shite that fans talk.... yet their team hasn't won a championship in lord knows when.

Remember those years Alabama didn't win their division and still played for a title?

They were a top4 team and the less amount of games gave them a large advantage.

Which was fitting because Clemson has been using that advantage for years.

You basically got the same playoff teams in 2019. What difference does it make? Ohio State, Oklahoma, Alabama, Clemson might miss a year here and there but the predisposition of the playoff committee runs the same, as do the teams. That's what everyone other fan base is bitchin' about.

The way they got the media to shite on the SEC in hopes of pressuring the league into not playing was something I’ll never forget.

That was also the one and only time tSECr was united

Remember when Ohio State did it first in the 4 team playoff era?

Isn't it interesting that in all 3 cases, all 3 entrees won the National Championship? Ohio State and Alabama as a 4th seed? Turns out all 3 times they were the best team.
