He is the best college coach of all time. He won 6 titles for you. Can Bama fans just admit he was not a good pro coach? Its ok if you weren't good at the highest level you are still the best college coach of all time. What is the big deal?

No Bama fan thinks he was a “good” pro coach. We don’t have much to go on but he was simply an “average” coach in those couple of years, in every sense of the word. His skill set doesn’t translate to the pros.

I can. And I couldn't care less.
Lovie Smith went to the Super Bowl as a head coach, and after that he was as shitty of a college head coach as anyone. Who gives a frick?
If being a successful NFL coach was the be-all and end-all of football coaching, why was Smith dogshit in college AFTER going to a Super Bowl?

He took a 4-12 team and turned it around to a 9-7 record, getting NFL COY consideration. NE fans were sweating bullets. We know the QB/Brees issue. Saban trusted his medical staff, which he should have done, they made a mistake in a difficult situation.
So, he was left with Culpepper, Harrington and Lemon as his QBs for 2006. The D improved from #18 to #4 in the League, but the offense was not effective, thus a 6-10 record. The year after he left they went 1-15.
So, to sum up, Saban took a 4-12 team and went 15-17, with woeful QBs, because of injury and the Brees misfortune. The years before and after Saban Miami was 5-27. This is why the Miami fanbase and media were in an uproar when he left. They knew he was good. (In 2006 the defense gave Brady and NE their last shutout.)
