I know Auburn wanted FSU in because we were already playing them most years. Might as well make it a conference game.

Most at that time wanted FSU and Miami to form a Super Conference. Hoping to later add Texas and OK. Some thought UT would never come unless the SEC allowed A&M to be a token member.
