Alabama's historical success is built on being a blue blood and then being lucky enough to have two GOAT coaches.

Bama football wasn't born into a status of football royalty.

They created and sustained it. Primarily, the "Game That Changed The South" (1926 Rose Bowl) turned the "tide" for how southern football would be perceived nationally and is where Bama's blue blood status began.

They'd play in 6 Rose Bowls and go 4-1-1 in them before finally the Pac and Big would make it exclusive.

Denny leveraged football success to build a national brand and increase out of state recruiting. Had he not pissed off Wade, he would have likely retired from Bama as well known for success as Bryant and Saban. To be fair, Thomas replaced Wade and he was hardly a slouch. 2 x undefeated seasons, no losing seasons and 3rd best win % all time at Bama as he built off of Wade's base at kept it going. He played for Rockne and coached Bear Bryant. He died relatively young, or he too may have gone on to do much more.

Both he and Wade are HoF coaches like Bryant, Stallings and Saban (one day).

Bottom line, Bama has an established history of football success. The 2 x GOAT CFB HCs left their mark, but it has history beyond those 2. It built and sustained success for a century with only 2 x decades (50s and 00s) with any period of mediocrity to bad football.

Bama will inevitably take a step back post-GOAT. And, another 50s/00s will certainly come at some point. But, the program will sustain success in the long run.
