I think his market value is more than we’re willing to pay. We have some options.
1. Lots of really good SS on the market this offseason.
2. Move Bregman to SS and sign a 3B (cheaper with similar production). And we have several options in the minors at SS. If the move is temporary. The top two being Pena (elite defensively, improving at the plate, but out for the year with a worst injury) & Leon (big time Cuban signee who’s a great outfielder, but playing SS in AA this year).
My ideal situation if Correa leaves is you sign Kyle Seager to a 1-2 year deal similar to Brantley. Move Bregman to SS. Then Pena should be ready to step in by then. Leon goes back to the OF and takes Straws spot since I don’t think he should be an everyday player.

I think Bregman’s SS days are firmly behind him, the range looks about average for third these days. Maybe if he drops some weight it can work as a one or two year stopgap. Should be some decent FA shortstops next year who get squeezed by how good the top end guys will be also. I’m excited to see how Leon and some of the younger pitchers perform now that the minor league season is about to start
The young pitching is really exciting and should give us something to build off with a longer term core of Bregman/Altuve/Yordan and perhaps Tucker going forward
