Only having 10 or 11 on scholarship in order to concentrate NIL makes sense for schools with limited NIL budgets. If you have the money to burn and a coach capable of stacking talent it makes no sense not to use your entire allotment though. Sure you're going to essentially be flushing some of that money down the toilet every year but if I can afford to do that I'd rather build a rotation from the best 8 or 9 out of 13 than the best 8 or 9 out of 10.

That would be ALL schools. You can only spend what you have. Arkansas has allotted more NIL funds to basketball than anyone, but one of those freshmen is costing Cal over $2 million this year. He'll burn through the season's entire NIL budget by the time he gets to 8 or 9 guys.
