Herb is an offensive liability and kills the rhythm of the real shooters on this team... there is absolutely no reason for him to dominate the ball the way he does regardless of being POY or Nate being COY... it's obviously hurting the shooting of guys who need to get a flow going.. it's getting worse every game.. this has seemed to make Petty to rush whenever he does get the ball. Herb should only be an option when he has a mismatch in the post...

I have overwhelming evidence that John Petty has been the most inconsistent good/talented shooter to ever play basketball at Alabama. It's not coaching, after 4 seasons and 2 HCs. It's rather in the deep dark recesses of his thought process.

If any natural-born shooter is still in such a constant funk after the green light coach Oats gives his shooters and then the offensive scheme to literally scream it down and insist on it, play after play, it just ain't gonna happen my friend.

Primo was never that guy I wanted to see go missing on this team, even though he is a freshman. We only have a few guys that will keep firing with confidence in the biggest moments. That's what it takes, belief. And Herb has far more of that than offensive talent. Thank goodness.

You keep emphasizing Herb's heart, toughness, leadership, confidence, will to win, etc and yet I (and now the one additional poster who agrees with me) has never questioned that. You seem to believe that the best path to the Final 4 is for Herb to put the team on his back offensively and will his way there. I'm disagreeing and saying he can still show his leadership by continuing to play defense, rebounding, and trusting his teammates with better offensive skills to pick up those attempts from the loss of Primo. I'm ok with him shooting layups when he has the advantage, but he keeps driving to the basket as if he has point guard skills, regardless of whether he has an open lane. My guess is Nate Oats is going to recognize that Jones is playing too overconfident and reign him in a bit.
