Obviously you want to bring in the best QB every year. That isn’t going to happen anywhere. But our QB room behind Bo is pathetic. And what transfer is going to come in and compete with an established starter unless promised the job. None. So QB transfer is pretty much out of the question. Bo has made improvements is he outstanding absolutely not but minor improvements after 15 days is pretty damn good. OL looked really good at times in run blocking and looked ok pass blocking. Still 15 practices with I’m sure mixed groups and shared reps. The QB and OL will make improvements even more so in the fall when reps narrow down the last few weeks of camp.

IMO our biggest weakness from the other big boys in the conference is at WR. By far the biggest weakness and it’s not close. Take a look at bama’s freshmen yesterday. Especially the Hall kid. Day and night between quality of player.

Other observations either we are weak in the middle defensively or the guards and Brahms have improved a lot. DBs looked good. Starting LBs looked good. Steiner looked good however he missed gap assignments a couple times.

Finally after watching the game again. Pegues has the opportunity to be an absolute stud inside. He has a long way to go for the defensive mentality. One example is the play he flushed Bo out to the left he started lightly jogging, you want to keep running and if the back or QB has to make a move you smash him from behind. He also a couple times just kind of shouldered into the blocker and didn’t try to do anything but the skill set is there it is and will be a mental thing for JJ.

WR blocking was pathetic. End of rant about WRs.

I’ll have to agree with you on some things. Bo did look like he made some improvements, and that’s great to see after only 14-15 practices. Just looked like he was making better decisions with the ball and most of the time he was putting the ball where it needed to be. He still left some to be desired on the long ball and a few of the “easier” throws. He showed really good athleticism still which will help the team out, I just wish he would use the athleticism to step up into the pocket.

The OL looked better and also still the same. They looked a little stronger and more powerful to me, but they still struggle with speed rushers (I get why Bo doesn’t trust them).

The WRs and TEs have talent, BUT, a lot of them are young and very inexperienced. Too many drops and not a lot of separation. Does it get better when Capers, Jackson, and Evans get back? Maybe a little?

Defense still looks good. Some issues on DL, but that was kinda expected. Does that get better if Jaren Handy and Jay Hardy come back in good standing? Pegues looked like he has some skills and Romello Height had good speed off the edge. DBs looked good and will get even better when the transfer from WVU gets here.

To sum it all up, the offense is still obviously a work in progress, which is to be expected, but the base offense looks more complex. The defense looks good, but a little soft on the DL. I think the transfer rule might able to help us out, we definitely have a spot to sell on the OL and if there are any proven or somewhat proven WRs then we have a spot to sell there.
