I think a pod system with a nine game schedule would work better than the schedule works now.
I'd like a 10 game, more round robin schedule setup. My biggest gripe about the current system is that you only play at a cross division team's home field (non-permanent) every 10 years or so. That's just dumb.
I'd like LSU to play AT UGA more often, AT Tennessee more often, etc.
If a pod system addressed that, then I'd be cool with it.

I do think this is all pie-in-the-sky wishing at this point because I think expansion is done for this generation, and the ACC is especially off the table because ESPN isn't going to want us to pirate from the family.
If you set up a pod system where you have a two year rotating division alignment, if done correctly a four year player could play almost every team.
By rotating division I mean Pod A & B and C & D are aligned for two years in a division to play a home and home, and Pod A plays its two other games against teams from C & D. Than after two years rotate to A & C and B & D and so forth. Every six years you complete a home & home against every team in the conference (plus the additional cross division games).
I'm sure you'd have to look at ways of balancing the schedule to make it work, but to me this makes the most sense of trying to have a real conference.
With all that said it will never happen.
