Given the smelly crow so many on the MSB ate this past season regarding Herbert, I’m prepped for a crap ton of crow being served for the Lawrence naysayers.

Definitely not saying Lawrence will never be a great NFL QB. He has all the tools for it.

I am saying that, considering the talent advantage Clemson had over everyone they played before the playoffs, it's odd his numbers aren't that great.

In 2018 Tua led the country in passer rating at 199.44; Lawrence was 12th at 157.56. He was closer to the 99th rated passer (Kasim Hill) than he was to Tua.

In 2019 Burrow led the country in passer rating at 201.96; Lawrence was 8th at 166.75. He was closer to the 68th rated passer (Zach Smith) than he was to Burrow.

In 2020 Mac led the country in passer rating at 203.06; Lawrence was 12th at 169.18. He was closer to the 54th rated passer (Dylan Morris) than he was to Jones.

His numbers are GOOD, absolutely, but while Tua, Joe and Jones all threw to great WR corps they were also throwing against a lot of highly rated DBs, and standing in the face of highly rated DLs and DEs. They had talent advantages, but nothing compared to how absurd the talent advantage Clemson has over the rest of the ACC.

Found an article that details the average recruiting rankings from 2015 through 2018.
The ACC had three teams make the top 25.
The SEC had ten teams make the top 25.

No one was playing with a more loaded deck than Clemson.
