Alabama Track and Field Has Two Advance On Day One of the U.S. Olympic Trials
The Alabama track and field program saw former All-American Daniel Haugh and current All-American Amaris Tyynismaa advance to the next round of their respective events on day one of the United States Olympic Team Trials being held on in Eugene, Ore., at Hayward Field.
Haugh posted a throw 77.43 meters to advance to the finals of the men's hammer throw. The Alabama graduate is one of just three of the 12 finalists to post a mark over 75 meters.
Tyynismaa, who helped lead the Alabama women to a fourth-place finish at last week's NCAA Championships in Eugene, advanced to the second round of the 1,500 meters with a run of 4:14.59.
All-American Tamara Clark just missed the semifinals of the 100 meters, taking 15th in a time 11.20. She will run in the 200 meters later in the week.
Emmanuel Bor, a former cross country All-American for the Tide, finished 10th in the 10,000 meters final after finishing in a time of 28:05.00. He is slated to run the 5,000 meters later in the week.
