Mercy Chelangat Takes NCAA Outdoor Championship Silver Medal at 10,000 Meters
Alabama junior Mercy Chelangat raced to a silver-medal finish in the 10,000 meters on day one of the women's events at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held at the newly renovated Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus this week.
Chelangat posted a time of 32:22.11 to finish second and put the Crimson Tide on the board in the team competition with eight points to sit in 11th place after day one.
Tamara Clark advanced to Saturday's finals in the 100 meters and 200 meters and as part of the 4x100-meter relay along with Daija Lampkin, D'Jai Baker and Natassha McDonald. Amaris Tyynismaa also advanced to Saturday with a strong showing in the 1,500 meters.
Alabama's men move back into the spotlight on Friday with their last day of competition, while the women close out championship week on Saturday.
