After Saban got exposed at Miami when everyone has equal talent he decided to go back to the minor leagues. It’s ok. When you don’t have the cards stacked in your favor then actual strategy comes into play. Some people can’t handle the big leagues. Spurrier, Petrino, Saban, Holtz.............. I think a fair assessment of Saban is his time at Michigan State. Above average not great

I don't think talent had anything to do with it. It was more about control. you cannot control these primadonna NFL players, who are paid millions and told how great they are. He saw that there was an opportunity to actually do something good in the lives of these athletes BEFORE they all became azzholes. He is a disciplinarian, and that is about the only thing that can get thru some of these guy's heads. He tells them if they want to make the big bucks and have a possible career in the NFL, they need to keep clean, be respectful and learn their jobs. The process works.
